Dolphins Week 18: “Not Planning” To Have Xavien Howard
When quarterback Tua Tagovailoa tore his ACL on Sunday, the Dolphins lost Bradley Chubb for the remainder of the season. Cornerback Xavien Howard is in the center of those two scenarios.
After suffering a foot injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Ravens, head coach Mike McDaniel announced on Monday that he “does not plan” to have the cornerback available for their AFC East title game against the Bills in Week 18. Regarding the first weekend of the playoffs, McDaniel remained silent, although it seems like Howard may be available for that match.
According to a team transcript, McDaniel stated, “The good news on ‘X’ is that it doesn’t look like it will require surgery, as we found out today.” “That’s why it’s sort of a week-to-week metric. That was nice. We need to wait and watch how he reacts. That foot posture is really difficult. Since every individual is unique, we will consider it carefully before pressing and evaluating.”
Regardless of the outcome of their game against the Bills, the Dolphins will make the playoffs. However, a win will earn them a home game, so that alone should motivate all players to suit up for Week 18.
