Eddie Hearn Eyeing Jaime Munguia vs Dmitry Bivol Bout

Boxing fans are excited about a potential bout between WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol and Jaime Munguia later this year. Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the fight between the two star boxers is in the works and may take place on the June 10th.

The 175 pounds fight will serve as a tune-up fight for Bivol as he prepares for a rematch with Canelo Alvarez in September.

With a record of 21-0, including 11 knockouts, Bivol is so far unbeaten in his career. He last fought against Craig Richards in November 2020, where he successfully defended his WBA title.

On the other hand, Munguia has even better numbers to show with a record of 41-0 and 33 knockouts. He was a former WBO junior middleweight champion and moved up to middleweight before possibly going up to light heavyweight.

Munguia’s management requested the fight, and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is considering the match. Munguia has the size and power to pose a challenge to Bivol, and his high work rate could make it an interesting fight.

Munguia’s promoters Oscar De La Hoya and Fernando Beltran have also expressed interest in Bivol as an opponent for their fighter. They have also mentioned potential opponents for Munguia, including Gennadiy Golovkin and Jermall Charlo.

When inquired about the potential fight with Bivol, Munguia said, “I beat him by throwing. To be honest, I have great regards for Bivol. There is no questiona that he’s a great fighter. I think hitting the body and doing good training can come handy in the ring.”

Hearn has acknowledged Munguia’s potential as a fighter but noted that it is quite unusual for him to go from fighting lesser-known opponents to a high-caliber fighter like Bivol. He also mentioned that Golovkin and Charlo would be tough opponents for Munguia.

Boxing fans are eagerly waiting the official announcement of the Bivol vs. Munguia fight. It remains to be seen whether Munguia will be able to give Bivol a run for his money and potentially secure a win against the unbeaten champion.
