Giannis Antetokounmpo Will Extend His Deal With Bucks
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have allegedly agreed on a three-year, $186 million deal extension. A player option is part of the agreement for the NBA season 2027–2028.
The 28-year-old Antetokounmpo caused a stir this offseason when he said the Bucks needed to make personnel changes to persuade him to accept a contract extension.
General Manager of the Bucks Jon Horst accomplished this by acquiring Damian Lillard, a former Portland Trail Blazer.
According to reports, Horst, 40, and Antetokounmpo’s agent, Alex Saratsis of Octagon, met on Sunday in Chicago to discuss the specifics of the maximum deal. The transaction was finalized before the deadline of 11:59 PM ET the next morning by the two-time league MVP.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has the potential to increase his income.
Wojnarowski claims that Antetokounmpo can make more money throughout his career.
Antetokounmpo has option to extend his short-term contract with Milwaukee until the 2027–28 season, and the CBA’s Over-38 rule also permits this.
The Bucks will then offer him a second four-year deal in 2028. Against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, Antetokounmpo will open the next NBA season.
