In Game 1 Of The LNB Finals, Victor Wembanyama Scored Just 8 Points As The Metropolitans 92 Are Soundly Crushed
Victor Wembanyama can lead his LNB Pro a squad to a title before he is most likely taken first in the NBA Draft on June 22. In Game 1 of the best-of-five LNB Finals on Saturday, Wembanyama and Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 struggled and fell to Monaco 87-64.
With only eight points on 3-of-8 shooting, Wembanyama was held in check throughout the game. In the opening phase of the game, he also contributed seven rebounds, two assists, and a vital block.
Near the conclusion of the first quarter, he also added a terrific jump shot.
With 15 points, Metropolitans 92’s Armel Traore had the most scoring. Elie Okobo, Mike James, and Alpha Diallo all had double-digit point totals for Monaco. With 14 points, Diallo held the top spot.
The Mets failed because of poor 3-point shooting and poor rebounding. The team’s three-point percentage was only 3-of-16 (18.8%). In its 3-point tries, Monaco made 41.7% of them. Monaco, which secured 15 offensive rebounds, outran Wembanyama and the Mets 92-92 in the battle for the boards.
On Monday, when the two sides face off in Game 2, Wembanyama will want to get back on track. There is still time for Wembanyama and the Mets to make things right. Wembanyama, who had a regular-season scoring average of 21 points per game, could be the place to start.
