The 2023 F1 Grand Prix in Monaco won’t be remembered for Sergio Perez. Being 14 points behind Max Verstappen before he entered the Principality caused him to plummet to 39 when the Dutch driver earned 25 points for victory.

Therefore, his crash on Saturday, which caused him to start last on the grid in Monaco’s winding streets, impacted everything. Due to a collision with George Russell during the race, he could not make up the numbers. He had previously won races as the “king of the street circuits,” but Monte Carlo was his worst fear.

The Mexican driver himself clearly stated it.

“I am the only one responsible. I can’t make any more mistakes if I want to fight for the World Championship.”

Helmut Marko, a Red Bull adviser, is on hand if he requires further assistance.

“His race was an impossibility. After the incident, it didn’t matter anymore. Everything went wrong, but I hope Sunday’s mistakes are enough for the rest of the season. In general, his speed when he was alone was good. But the incident ruined the whole weekend. It wasn’t irresponsible, but it was irrational. The numbers speak for themselves: last on the grid, a broken wing, 16th place, two laps down and five pit stops.”

Helmut Marko told Servus TV.

In contrast, Marko could only laud Verstappen for his triumph in Monte Carlo.

“His lap in qualifying was unbelievable. Incredible performance. He was always in control in all conditions. He controlled the pace with ease. The communication between Max and the technicians was excellent. He touched the wall, but it went well.”

Helmut Marco concluded.
