The Boston Bruins have announced that goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman has received a $3.475 million arbitration award on a deal for the upcoming season.

After Jeremy Swayman and the team attended a hearing on Sunday, the decision was announced on Tuesday. The Bruins opted for a one-year deal rather than a two-year one.

The current Vezina Trophy winner, Linus Ullmark, and Swayman, 24 years old, are anticipated to split time between the nets again. This previous season, while the Bruins shattered league records for wins and points, the two broke the William Jennings Trophy for having the best goals-against average in the NHL.

The second goaltender to appear in an arbitration hearing this summer was Swayman. Ilya Samsonov of Toronto was the initial recipient of the $3.55 million contract for a single year.

Trent Frederic, a depth forward, was signed to a two-year, $4.6 million agreement by the Bruins to avoid arbitration. The cap hit for the following two seasons for Frederic, 25, will be $2.3 million annually.

After veteran center, Patrice Bergeron announced his retirement, two young players, Swayman and Frederic, chose to remain with Boston.
