Joe Burrow, Bengals’ Injured Quarterback Expected to Return For Week One

Joe Burrow, the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, has been out with a calf injury for a while now.

Fans may be wondering when Burrow will make his triumphant return after the Bengals dropped their first 2023 preseason game on Friday night to the Green Bay Packers.

While a specific date is yet unknown, we have been told that it will occur before Week 1.
The Bengals apparently expect Burrow to be ready to go for Week 1 after hearing an update on him from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Saturday morning’s SportsCenter.

People I’ve talked to are optimistic that he’ll be good to go for Week 1. Fowler stated, according Bleacher Report, that Taylor “has said it’s probably going to be another several weeks and that it would be hard for him to pass up that opportunity, that he’s trying to prepare himself to play.” They’re moving at a glacial pace.

It would be quite unexpected if he participated in any preseason games, but we’ll have to wait and see how things pan out and if his calf improves. It’s just a calf strain, so he can handle it, and he’s making his way back slowly.

Things appear to be heading in the correct direction. I am not aware of any significant setbacks.

Burrow strained his calf on July 27 during a preseason workout. As he ran around the pitch during a play, he hopped on his left leg and eventually sat down. He was eventually taken away in an ambulance for observation.

Head coach Zac Taylor didn’t say much, just that Burrow had hurt his calf and wouldn’t play for “several weeks.”

Since then, we haven’t heard much from Taylor, though after the Bengals’ 36-19 preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers on Friday night, he did provide an eight-word update on Burrow.

He is developing normally. Taylor remarked that he had only good things to report.

The quintessential uninformative and useless response from a football coach. We are on the cusp of a new NFL season.

Since Taylor is useless, let’s watch the recordings to get an idea of how Burrow really appears. Before the game versus Green Bay, he worked out on the field by sprinting and throwing.
