James has a player option for the 2024-25 season and looks like he is going to avail this one. However, he was yet to finalize his future team for the next season.

When asked about his plans on Tuesday, James said he hadn’t given it a thought yet, as he was more concerned about spending time with his family and friends after a chaotic season.

When asked the same during a press conference following the Game 5 loss against the Nuggets, he said: “I don’t have an answer… to be honest. I haven’t given it much thought.”

When a reporter pressed if this was his last season with the Lakers, James refused to answer.

But, what are his options?

First and foremost, he can return to the Purple and Gold with hopes of making amends to avoid another first-round exit. The other option is to hit free agency, where he could join a team that agrees to sign his son Bronny James.

However, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, LeBron has dropped the idea of playing in the same team as his son. Or at least, it is off his priority list.

Meanwhile, the Athletic’s Shams Charania, Jovan Buha and Sam Amick reported that they badly want him back for another season and are willing to a three-year, $164 million max extension

As James turns 40 in December – the last – and probably the least favorable option would be to retire at the end of his 21st season.

But Paul recently said on SiriusXM NBA Radio that he believes James has “two-to-three years left” in his career.

And who will dispute the legend’s decision to keep playing – especially considering his stellar performance this season?

He maintained his status as one of the league’s top players, averaging 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, with shooting percentages of 54% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc in the 2023-24 season.
