As seen by his opening encounter at the 2024 Madrid Open, Rafael Nadal is once again a dominant force on the clay surface. But even in the middle of his attempt to recover from an injury, the 22-time Grand Slam champion took a moment to hold his kid close.
Before facing Darwin Blanch in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open, cameras caught Rafael Jr. cuddling with Rafael Nadal. The obvious sweetness of this moment suggests that Nadal made the right decision to put off having children until the end of his tennis career.
Nadal had some time with his wife Maria Francisca Perello and their October 2022-born boy before taking on Blanch at La Caja Magica. Though Rafael Nadal Sr. had previously voiced doubts about his son following in his illustrious footsteps, Rafael Jr. nevertheless received some cheek kisses from his adoring father in addition to a little tennis racket that the youngster could play with.
