Megan Rapinoe Will Play Final USWNT Match On Sep 24 In Chicago
Rapinoe, 38, is the 14th American to compete in 200 international games and will finish her career with 203 caps.
At a friendly match against South Africa on September 24 at Soldier Field in Chicago, Megan Rapinoe will make her final appearance for the U.S Women’s National Team.
Rapinoe cited a statement from the United States Soccer Federation on Tuesday.
“People may think that my career coming to an end would bring sadness, but when I think back on the past 30-plus years of playing this game, my overriding emotions are joy and gratitude.” “It’s been an unbelievable ride. It will be special to have this one last opportunity to play for my country in front of our incredible fans and get the chance to thank my teammates and everyone who has had an impact on me as a person and player over the years.”
In 203 appearances with the USWNT from 2006 to 2013, Megan Rapinoe, 38, recorded 63 goals and 73 assists. She contributed to the Americans’ victories in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups and their Olympic gold medal in 2012.
Before the summer World Cup, the midfielder announced that she would stop playing after the NWSL season. On October 6 in Seattle against the Washington Spirit, she will play her final regular-season game with the OL Reign.
