NBA Playoffs: Anthony Edwards Triumphs Devin Booker, Kevin Durant to Secure Timberwolves Victory Over Suns

With their season on the line, the Suns brought their A-game out on Sunday but failed to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves as the latter prevailed in a nail-biting 122-116 win.

Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns were the key players for Timberwolves’ convincing win over Suns that completed their 4-0 sweep in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The two outshone Kevin Durant and Devin Booker who collectively scored 82 combined points.

This is also the first series win for Timberwolves Durant led them to the Western Conference finals in 2004.

Minnesota head coach Chris Finch wasn’t available to witness the victory moments as he had to leave early after being injured in a sideline collision with Mike Conley. According to Athletic’s Shams Charania, Finch is feared to have suffered a torn patellar tendon.

With the series win, Minnesota became the first team to qualify for the second round of the NBA playoffs. It poses serious questions for Suns – a team that was built around two All-Star players Durant and Booker and the depth they sacrificed.

They found it difficult to prevail against the younger, more focused Timberwolves –barring their two-star players.

The Suns, on the other hand, didn’t go down without a fight. It was a neck-to-neck battle from the word go with the lead swinging on multiple occasions in the fourth quarter. It was a stark contrast to the first three games that saw the Timbewolves’ win each by double figures.
