Dani Alves, an ex-soccer player, has been in jail for a year after being accused of sexual assault at a nightclub. Neymar has supported him during this trial by giving him financial assistance and legal advice.

Since January 20, 2023, Dani Alves has been incarcerated. He was admitted to the Brians 2 jail in Barcelona on the charge of a 23-year-old accuser who said the football player had sexually attacked her in the Sutton nightclub’s reserved restroom.

To cover the “physical and psychological” consequences of the alleged rape in the nightclub, the claimed victim is requesting a payment of fifteen thousand euros. Furthermore, a twelve-year jail term is sought for the Brazilian by this private prosecution.

The Audiencia de Barcelona said that the trial, which is scheduled to start on February 5 at 10:00 CET and continue on February 6 and 7, will conclude the remand.

Dani Alves requested Neymar’s assistance

In an attempt to secure financial and legal support ahead of the trial, which is scheduled to start next month, Dani Alves reportedly reached out to Neymar, his buddy and former teammate at Barcelona and PSG, as well as the national team.

According to the Brazilian media site UOL, Neymar’s father has sent money to support Dani Alves’s legal defense. The 150,000 euros in penalties known as “mitigating indemnity for the damage caused” were paid to the Spanish courts using this money.

Should Dani Alves be found guilty, this sum may help lower his sentence. In addition, Alves nominated Gustavo Xisto, one of the oldest legal representatives of Neymar’s father’s firms, as his attorney-in-fact and withdrew Dinorah Santana, his ex-wife, from the management of his assets.
