Stephen Curry Leaves Game Hurt During Bulls' Defeat

Stephen Curry left the game without coming back due to a right ankle injury, and the Warriors lost 125-122 to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday at Chase Center despite playing well for the majority of the game.

About four minutes remained in the fourth quarter when Curry drove the ball down the lane and fell uncomfortably on his right ankle. He left the court hobbling and headed straight to the Warriors‘ locker room.

Even though Klay Thompson scored a game-high 25 points and drained five 3-pointers from the bench, the Warriors were unable to maintain the momentum they created the night before when they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, the second-best club in the Eastern Conference.

Jonathan Kuminga finished with 10 rebounds and 19 points. A triple-double of 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists was recorded by Draymond Green prior to his late-fourth-quarter foul. Chris Paul and Stephen Curry both scored fifteen points.

Even though Brandin Podziemski scored eleven points, the Warriors were behind 122-119 when he missed a critical layup with six seconds left.

Four seconds remained when Paul made a 3-pointer for the Warriors, cutting the Bulls’ advantage to 123-122. Lester Quinones attempted an air ball from midcourt with seconds remaining, but Chicago’s DeMar DeRozan had already given the Bulls a 125-122 lead with two more free throws.

The Warriors suffered a heartbreaking defeat, as they were now tied with the Lakers for the last Western Conference play-in place.

Though they had defeated the Bucks by 35 points the day before, Golden State (33-24) was unable to sustain its winning momentum. This was only the Warriors’ fifth loss in their previous eighteen games.

For the majority of the evening, Curry had trouble making his shot. He was only able to score five points in the first half and finished the game with five of eighteen points overall and three of twelve from beyond the arc.
