Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez, Potential Fight Date & Card Leaks
When Canelo fights next is something the boxing world wants to know.
Because he is among the top boxers in the world per pound, Saul Canelo Alvarez always steals the show, and his upcoming matchup won’t be any different. It’s possible, though, that additional fights involving well-known fighters will be added to the schedule to create a mega-feature. And one potential rival for Saul Alvarez is Terence Crawford.
Terence Crawford, the potential rival
Carlos Aguilar of MVS Deportes reported that Saudi Arabian Sheikh Turki Al-Alshikh wanted Canelo Alvarez (61-2-2) to fight Terence Crawford (40-0) in the United States.
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) obligatory challenger William Scull, a Cuban, would be eliminated if it were the case. There is also consideration for Jaime Munguia and Pitbull Cruz.
Jaime Munguia (43-1), who was stopped by Alvarez in Las Vegas earlier this month, will make a comeback to take on Caleb Plant (22-2) on the main card, Aguilar further stated.
Even Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (26-2-1) is being considered, but things get complex because he is fighting Jose Valenzuela (13-2) in Los Angeles on August 3. He would face off against Shakur Stevenson (21-0).
Luis “Pantera” Nery (35-2) will face Stephen Fulton (21-1) and Luis “Venado” Lopez (30-2) will face Brandon Figueroa (25-1-1). These are the other two bouts.
September 14, the weekend of Mexico’s Independence Day, is possible if the fight proceeds according to Saul Alvarez’s typical timetable.
