Miami Hurricanes basketball players Haley and Hanna Cavinder have decided to skip their fifth year of eligibility in favor of a “new chapter.”

“What started as us playing basketball 16 years ago has turned into something bigger than we could ever imagine,”

The twins wrote in a statement on social media.

Both senior Fresno State transfers helped Miami’s historically significant journey to the Final Eight last month. With considerable success, they could get important name, image, and likeness arrangements at both colleges.

College athletes who participated in the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 were given an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA. The twins may have spent one other year attending Miami or another university if this had been possible.

Throughout the epidemic, the twins amassed substantial social media fan bases on Instagram, TikTok, and other sites, which paved the way for their first contract with Boost Mobile in 2021.

They were NIL standouts at the time while playing for Fresno State after being featured on a Times Square billboard as part of an agreement.

When the Cavinders moved to Miami before the 2022–2023 season, they were already among the top 10 teams in terms of NIL profits for women’s sports and among the top five teams, according to NIL marketplace Opendorse.

WWE, Champs Sports, LifeWallet, Under Armour, and Victoria’s Secret PINK are a few of their brand partners.

It appears probable that they would only explore that option if the twins’ announcement occurred the day after the WNBA Draft.

Their dream of participating in the NCAA tournament was achieved when they transferred to Miami, where the No. 9 Hurricanes defeated No. 1 seeds Villanova and Indiana in the second round.

The twins increased their notoriety around that time and even won the backing of rapper Lil Wayne.

For Miami, Haley started each of the 35 games. In 30.9 minutes per game, she averaged 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, earning her a spot on the All-ACC second team.

In 16.7 minutes a game, Hanna came off the bench with 1.6 assists and 1.3 rebounds, averaging 3.8 points.

Their season wasn’t without its bumps, and it came to a disappointing conclusion as they lost to eventual national champion LSU in the Greenville 2 regional final.

The Cavinders were recruited by Miami’s Katie Meier, who was later found to have broken NCAA regulations.

Meier completed a three-game suspension issued by the school, and the program was given a year of probation and was fined $5,000—the first known consequence for breaking the NCAA’s new NIL regulations.

According to ESPN, the Cavinders intend to stay in Florida to concentrate on business endeavors, including an agreement with an unnamed media firm.

American basketball players Haley and Hanna Cavinder are known as the Cavinder twins. Due to their remarkable on-court abilities, they both represent the Fresno State Bulldogs women’s basketball team, and they have gained much popularity on social media.
