Zion Williamson: Explosive Return, Pelicans Resume Their Winning Ways

Zion Williamson was one name that stood out above the others throughout the chaos of games at the beginning of the NBA season. After not participating in a formal game since February 1, the Pelicans star made a comeback.

Zion demonstrated why he is among the league’s most dominant players as he led New Orleans to a well-earned victory in Memphis (111–104). He appeared in excellent health, pain-free, and more youthful than ever. At times, he brought back memories of the player that dazzled Duke and his rookie season in the NBA.

With his 9/17 shooting from the field, he finished with 23 points and 7 rebounds. He’s changed everything for the Pelicans. A club that started the previous season atop the Western Conference and quickly dropped following Williamson’s injury (which was compounded by Ingram’s loss)

Zion’s health is crucial to the Louisiana squad. They are a postseason team with him in place. The bottom of their conference is where they will end up without him. The combination of young players and seasoned players in Willie Green’s locker room nonetheless results in one of the league’s most well-rounded teams.

The key trainers for the next generation of players are McCollum, Ingram, and Valanciunas, with Herb Jones, Trey Murphy, and Dyson Daniels among them.

The project assumes its original form when Zion Williamson returns to full health and All-Star status, giving the Pelicans newfound hope.
