The Panthers superstar helped Florida upset the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday night at PNC Arena in Raleigh by scoring in overtime for the second straight game.

The clutch king is Matthew Tkachuk.

On Thursday, Tkachuk’s goal in the fourth overtime session gave the Panthers a 3-2 victory and gave Florida a 1-0 series lead.

With games 3 and 4 at FLA Live Arena in Florida, the “Comeback Cats” will take a 2-0 series lead over the Hurricanes.

Following goals by Florida’s Aleksander Barkov and Carolina’s Jalen Chatfield, the Panthers and Hurricanes were tied after three quarters, and many spectators dreaded the prospect of yet another game requiring four overtimes.

Tkachuk, though, had other ideas and put an end to the game at 1:51 of extra, sending the Panthers home with a chance to win the series.

Tkachuk, who played for the Calgary Flames for the first six years of his career, had his greatest season in his first year with the Panthers, tallying 40 goals and 69 assists for 109 points in 79 regular-season games.

With seven goals and 11 assists in gaining 18 points in 14 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the 25-year-old has performed even better. For the most points gained in a single playoff season, his 18 points set a franchise record.

Fans are prepared to declare Tkachuk the king of South Florida following the team’s most recent victory:

Tkachuk and the Panthers may make the Stanley Cup Final, which is great, and it is for the first time, since the 1995–96 campaign if they continue playing the way and pace they are performing.

However, there are still a plenty of series left, and they only need two more victories to guarantee a final spot in the championship game.

Monday (May 22, 2023) 8 p.m. ET, is the time for Game 3 between the Panthers and Hurricanes in Florida.
