After beating Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open final in three sets yesterday, Coco Gauff was crowned the new champion. The Belarusian, the second seed in the draw and starting tomorrow’s unique number one, could not process the loss.
After leaving the court, Aryna Sabalenka went to the gym and smashed her racket four times on the floor to vent her rage. The tennis player from Minsk had no idea that she was being videotaped or that her outburst would shortly go viral on social media.
Sabalenka’s forced mistakes weakened her after she won the first set. After two weeks of strict action, the Belarusian player admitted she would have a great drink after the defeat.
