Connor Bedard Earns NHL Accolade, Solid Week Of Performance
In light of his great debut season with the Blackhawks, Connor Bedard continues to receive praise. Bedard received a second star award from the NHL on Monday.
With seven points for the week, Bedard and First Star Nikita Kucherov shared the league lead in points. Bedard was ranked lower than Kucherov since he scored seven points in three games as opposed to Kucherov’s two.
The career-high five points he scored against the Ducks on March 12 capped off an exciting week. In helping the Blackhawks thrash the Ducks 7-2, Connor Bedard scored one goal and provided an assist on four others. Sunday night, in the Blackhawks’ 5-2 victory over the Sharks, Bedard also scored his first empty-net goal.
Although Bedard has already won multiple awards this season, this is his first of this type. In November and December, Bedard was chosen an All-Star and won Rookie of the Month. This year’s Calder Trophy winner, which honors the best rookie in the NHL, is also a heavy favorite to win.
With 21 goals and 32 assists, Connor Bedard has 53 points thus far this season. With just 54 games played, he has averaged just under one point per game, making that even more remarkable.
