Jude Bellingham Puts His Coat On Crippled Fan At Wembley
In addition to saving the day before kickoff by helping a crippled mascot during the national anthems, Jude Bellingham saved England last night against Belgium with his stoppage-time equalizer.
The 20-year-old midfielder for Real Madrid led out the young supporter at Wembley who was sporting the England uniform just before kickoff while it was pouring with rain. The boy was in a wheelchair, and Bellingham talked to him before putting his warm-up top on him for warmth.
In response to a video of Bellingham’s deed of compassion, former England striker Gary Lineker posted, “He’s a diamond,” on X, formerly Twitter. While the Belgium national song was being performed, Phil Foden had also given the mascot his tracksuit top.
After England’s two goals from Youri Tielemans, which kept them from losing after their weekend loss to Brazil, Jude Bellingham scored in the dying seconds of the match to salvage a 2-2 draw.
After England salvaged a draw against a lengthy injury list that saw John Stones added after he hobbled off in the first half, Bellingham commented, “I know what a mess we would have faced if we had lost two games on the bounce.” “When playing these games, it’s important to maintain perspective because many of the boys are making their debuts—many of whom I had previously played with. We had a lot of chances; I had one where I should have scored and a few more opportunities to put the ball in the goal. I’m glad I could make up for it to the team, but we should have won with all the chances we created. Phil Foden, Kobbie Mainoo, and I all had some excellent ones, but these two matches will prepare us well for the Euros.”
