Lionel Messi Not Available For Argentina Due To Injury

Argentina has officially announced that Lionel Messi would miss the country’s next games during their international break due to a hamstring injury he sustained in his most recent game against Inter Miami.

During his team’s MLS encounter against Nashville, the captain of Argentina sustained injuries. In the 49th minute, Messi—who had scored and assisted on a goal—had to quit the game. Messi will therefore be unable to participate in Argentina’s two scheduled friendlies against Costa Rica and El Salvador.

Tata Marino, the coach of Inter Miami, acknowledged the injury after the game.

“He’s got a hamstring bulge in his right. We didn’t have to take any chances.”

“It was affecting him, so we suggested that he leave the game, but we did try to see if he could hold out a little longer.”

What effect does injury of Lionel Messi have on Argentina?

Lionel Scaloni and his FIFA World Cup-winning team are lucky in that the 36-year-old’s absence will only be for friendly matches, meaning that their World Cup and Copa America qualifying campaigns won’t be impacted.

Argentina’s opening Copa America matchup versus Playoff Winner A is set for June 20. On Tuesday, June 26th, they are scheduled to play Chile as their first opponent.

After defeating Educador on Colombia en route to the final, Messi and company will attempt to defend the title they won in 2021, having defeated Brazil courtesy to a goal in the 22nd minute by Angel Di Maria.

Despite making four final appearances since 1993, it was their first tournament victory in 28 years.

It turned out to be a sign of things to come as Messi went on to lead Argentina to victory against France in the World Cup in Qatar, their first title in the tournament in 36 years, and they went on to win the UEFA Cup of Champions (Finalissima) as well.
