Tyler Reddick and the No. 45 Cup team each received a 10-point penalty from NASCAR for a violation discovered during a pre-qualifying inspection at Darlington Raceway last weekend.
The team was fined by NASCAR for misusing ballast. NASCAR issued the fine citing Section 14.11.2.1.A. Any ballast that is put into the vehicle “must be secured inside a ballast container(s),” according to that regulation. It will be possible to add more ballast containers to the chassis.
Reddick’s ranking among drivers decreases from eighth to tenth as a result of the 10-point fine. Moving up to seventh place is Brad Keselowski. In the standings, Kyle Larson advances one position to eighth.
Billy Scott, the crew chief for 23XI Racing, was expelled by NASCAR as a result of the violation.
After a tire broke off Erik Jones‘ vehicle during the race last weekend, NASCAR also declared that Legacy Motor Club pit crew members Nate McBride and Adam Riley were ineligible to participate in the following two races.
