Oleksandr Usyk Planned To Give Up Boxing After Defeating Tyson Fury
The fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury was postponed for February with the former hoping to emerge victorious and win the unified heavyweight title.
Usyk intends to give up boxing after this success and become a football player. After participating in a friendly match for FC Polissya Zhytomyr in July, Usyk declared his enthusiasm for the game and said he had signed a contract with the team.
“After I win, I rush to the football pitch to play since I recently signed a deal with Polissya, the top football team in Ukraine!” For ESNews, Usyk said.
At an Uzbek event, Usyk recently made fun of Fury by posing with his WBC heavyweight world belt, even though he hasn’t fought since August.
A statement confirming the agreement for collaboration was earlier issued by the Ukrainian Premier League team.
According to a release, Oleksandr Usyk and club president Hennadiy Butkevich signed an official one-year agreement on football collaboration. Usyk will take the stage as No. 17. Later on, more contract information should be expected.
