Real Madrid Extended Rodrygo’s Contract To 2028
Rodrygo Goes has agreed to a new contract extension with Real Madrid that will last until June 30, 2028.
The forward from Brazil has agreed to a three-season contract extension, extending his original expiration date of 2025.
This announcement follows Vinicius’s extension, which was made until 2027, by just a few days.
Rodrygo experience at Real Madrid
2018 saw Rodryigo join with Real Madrid after Los Blancos paid Santos 45 million euros, marking the club’s second large acquisition in Brazil’s developing talent market, following Vinicius’s offer.
Based on their individual renewals, both are now regular members of the first team and important contributors to their respective projects for the future.
Even though Rodrygo signed back then, he didn’t actually join the team until 2019, after turning 18.
In Matchday 6 of the 2019–20 season, he made his first team debut against Osasuna following a brief spell of acclimatisation with Castilla. He scored shortly after entering the game and finished the season with 26 appearances and seven goals.
But his real breakthrough as a star came in the 2021–2022 campaign, when he helped his team win the 14th European Cup even though he wasn’t a regular starter—particularly with his brace against Manchester City in the second leg of the semi-final.
Having established himself as a regular starter up front with Karim Benzema and Vinicius, he concluded that season with 49 games and nine goals, a total he greatly exceeded in the 2022–2023 season with 57 performances and 19 goals.
Although the Brazil international has only scored twice this season—against Athletic Club and Braga—Real Madrid has not wavered in its determination to extend the player’s contract.
