Ryan Garcia Announced Challenge To Face Devin Haney In 2024

It’s rare to find Ryan Garcia and Oscar De la Hoya in agreement, but it appears that both of them intend to fight Devin Haney in 2024.

As he confronted Haney after his commanding victory against Regis Prograis on Saturday, Garcia was the one who started things off.

In addition to declaring that he has been thinking about moving up to 147, Haney currently holds the WBC junior welterweight belt. Garcia defeated Oscar Duarte in his most recent fight, which took place over the weekend.

Garcia said on social media that this was one of his best works, “Though Devin’s best work has the ability to send viewers to sleep. What he’s missing, I know. Though not now, he may have it in the future. I’m eager to move things along with him, so make your inferences.”

De la Hoya supports it. Given that De la Hoya has stated he will “push” for the fight to materialize and that he believes it will benefit both boxers, this increases the likelihood that it will really happen.

Even though Ryan Garcia defeated Duarte, not everyone was won over by the way he fought. Julio Cesar Chavez, the former Mexican champion, voiced his displeasure by saying that Garcia ran a lot during the fight.

When the match was airing on TV Azteca he said, “What kind of boxing am I watching now?”

Ryan Garcia, who earned $30 million from his fight against Gervonta Davis in April of last year, reportedly only made $5 million against Duarte—barely a sixth of what he had made before. Now that he is the WBA super lightweight champion, he is seeking a knockout match.
