The 36-hole PNC Championship in Orlando, which pits past champions against their families, is the next stop on the Tiger Woods Returns Tour. With his son Charlie, 14, Woods will start things off. This year’s tournament, which takes place at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando from December 16–17, will see the father-and-son combo finish second in the 2021 edition.

After his early withdrawal from the Masters tournament this year, when he had made the cut, Woods has not participated in any competitive golf tournaments. Later, he had ankle fusion surgery, and despite the numerous scandals rocking the golf industry, he has stayed mostly hidden from the public perception ever since.

In a statement, Woods said, “It is an incredible gift to be able to express my love of golf with Charlie, and we truly look forward to playing in the PNC Championship every year.” Woods has played with Charlie for the previous four years despite a recent round of ailments and surgery.

Charlie Woods and Tiger took sixth in their first partnership in the tournament. Both of them came in eighth last year.

Next week’s Hero World Challenge, a 20-player competition, has already drawn Woods’ commitment to compete. After pulling out of the Masters, which will be Woods’ first competition.

Since its inception in 1995 as a father-son competition, the PNC Championship has expanded to include a variety of major-winning players’ family members, such as sons, daughters, and parents.

Since the PNC is an event sanctioned by the PGA Tour Champions, players are free to utilize carts if they so want. Woods has previously used a cart to aid in his recovery from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in February 2021.

Among the other participants in the tournament are Padraig Harrington and son Ciaran, as well as Steve Stricker and daughter Izzi, a high school state winner from Wisconsin. Other guests slated to make appearances include Justin Thomas, John Daly, Nelly Korda, Vijay Singh, and Annika Sorenstam.
