The official fight between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury has begun. ESPN reports that Fury and Ngannou have agreed to square off in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 28. Even though it is only an exhibition fight, it will undoubtedly be one of the biggest of the year.

The official release states that three judges would judge the fight using the 10-point system in a boxing ring of standard size. The number of rounds and the regulations remain unknown, as well as whether Fury’s WBC heavyweight belt will be on the line.

A battle between the two sides has been suggested for a while, and Francis Ngannou said in January that his team communicated with Fury about one. On this week’s episode of the “Out Of Interest” podcast, Fury said there was genuine “potential” for it and that they had already had some bids.

Despite being a formidable force in the UFC, Francis Ngannou has never boxed professionally. He now boasts a 17-3 MMA record and last defended the UFC heavyweight championship against Ciryl Gane in January 2022. For the title, he first defeated Stipe Miocic in 2021.

“My dream was always to box, and to box the best.”

“After becoming the undisputed MMA Heavyweight Champion, this is my opportunity to make that dream come true and cement my position as the baddest man on the planet.”

Fury is the current WBC heavyweight champion with a record of 33-0-1 and 24 knockouts. In December, he last defeated Derek Chisora. The sole blemish on his record was a contentious draw in his bout with Deontay Wilder in 2018.

“I can’t wait to get back out there under the lights.”

“I’m looking forward to showing the world that The Gypsy King is the greatest fighter of his generation in an epic battle with another master of his craft.” Tyson Fury
