With Red Bull and Formula 1, Max Verstappen has a history of speaking up anytime he is not pleased with a scenario.
The Dutchman claims he would leave Formula One if changes to weekend formats did not suit him, despite winning two of the season’s first three races and owning a 15-point advantage over Checo Perez in the driver standings.

The Dutchman claims he would leave Formula One if changes to weekend formats did not suit him, despite winning two of the season’s first three races and owning a 15-point advantage over Checo Perez in the driver standings.
A new practice session arrangement is planned for the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which takes place in Baku from April 28 to 30.
One additional practice and the previously tested Sprint will be tried on Saturday, followed by the race on Sunday, as opposed to the three practice sessions and qualifying that are typically held before a race.
“I think that’s much better for the excitement. Naturally, I hope there won’t be too many changes; otherwise, I won’t do it, I won’t be here for long.”
Verstappen Voiced Portugal’s Sport TV
The world champion has a deal with Red Bull through 2028 and receives a salary of almost 50 million euros per year. Max Verstappen has a provision that would let him leave Formula 1, even if it is doubtful that he will do so.
“If we experience a ‘crash’ like in 2014, when we had absolutely no chance against Mercedes on the engine side, then there is clearly an escape clause.”
Red Bull Advisor Helmut Marko Elucidated.
Verstappen won’t likely follow through on his threat if the going continues to be excellent for him, but if the car’s performance dips, there is room to get out.
