Red Bull Acknowledged Its Desire To Sign Lando Norris

Dr. Helmut Marko, a Red Bull adviser, has acknowledged that while Lewis Hamilton is Lewis Hamilton, he can “imagine” Lando Norris driving for the Austrians.

Lando Norris and Max Verstappen are good friends, and he has previously been connected to Red Bull.

Dr. Helmut Marko, a Red Bull adviser, has acknowledged that while Lewis Hamilton is Lewis Hamilton, he can “imagine” Lando Norris driving for the Austrians.

With Sergio Perez‘s contract with Red Bull expiring at the end of 2024, the Mexican driver’s seat has recently become a hot topic.

Although Red Bull has claimed they will uphold Perez’s contract, others have speculated that he may not even compete for the team next season.

However, Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo are among the drivers already vying for his position in 2025.

Norris may be considered since team principal Christian Horner has previously stated that drivers outside the RB family would be considered.

Long before he signed his long-term contract with McLaren, Norris had discussions with RB, who had been watching him.

He won’t be eligible to transfer until 2026 when the new power unit restrictions are implemented, as his contract with McLaren doesn’t officially expire until the end of 2025.

It could offer someone a one-year contract for 2025 if they were genuinely interested in the British driver. Norris has been in excellent form lately, earning two podium finishes in the previous three races.

He and Hamilton would do admirably at Red Bull Racing with Max Verstappen. To sign Hamilton, Marko admits, would be “ideal” for the media, but it wouldn’t be the best course of action for the Milton Keynes-based squad.

“With Norris, I could well imagine that. It’s harder for me with Hamilton, though.”

“It would certainly be ideal for the public, television, and journalists, but not for team leadership and success.”

Marko told Motorsport-Magazin.com.

The Austrians’ distaste for leading drivers is why Hamilton would never go to Red Bull.

Although the team isn’t fond of labels, Marko acknowledges that they would rather have a partnership where it’s “clear who is faster”.

“We as a team prioritize the World Championship, and it’s better if you have a certain hierarchy.”

“I don’t want to say a ‘number one’ driver, but that it’s clear who is faster.”

“The atmosphere in the team cannot suffer. If we look at something like [Ayrton] Senna and [Alain] Prost, you’d have two superstars who only look at each other and put the team in second place.”
