Tyrese Maxey Labeled As Doubtful For Game 2 Of Playoff Series
Maxey skipped Monday’s drill.
Tyrese Maxey, a guard with the Philadelphia 76ers, was designated as doubtful for Game 2 of their NBA playoff series against the New York Knicks in the first round.
Though no specifics were provided, the All-Star point guard missed the Sixers’ Monday morning shootaround due to sickness. The only other player from Philadelphia who skipped the morning session was him.
Despite the Knicks’ best efforts, Maxey was able to go to the basket and score a game-high 33 points in the Sixers’ 111–104 first-round loss. A left knee injury that appears to be bothering Joel Embiid would be a major blow to Philadelphia’s hopes of evening the series if Maxey were to miss out.

Despite being listed as doubtful for Game 2, Embiid did show up for Monday’s shootaround. Maxey will probably be impacted by his illness even if he decides to play. Kyle Lowry would assume starting point guard responsibilities if he is unable to travel. In Game 1, Lowry shot 4-for-7 from three-point range to score 18 points.
In addition to Alperen Şengün of the Houston Rockets and Coby White of the Chicago Bulls, Tyrese Maxey was revealed on Sunday as one of the three nominees for the NBA Most Improved Player award. His average of 25.9 points and 6.2 assists per game during the regular season ranked him as the Sixers’ second-highest scorer.
