Why Red Bull Will Pay Record-Breaking Entrance Fee To F1 Next Season?
Red Bull enjoyed an incredible 2023 F1 season, shattering records and amassing unprecedented point’s totals.
But, success has a cost, and the Austrian team will have to shell out millions of dollars for an unprecedented F1 entrance fee the next year.
With 19 of the 22 races on the schedule won by Max Verstappen and two by Sergio Perez, the Austrian team amassed 860 points for the season.
Furthermore, Checo Pérez‘s consistent start and finish allowed the team to record a first-ever 1-2 result in the drivers’ standings.
Consequently, Red Bull will be required to pay registration costs in excess of $7.5 million prior to the 2024 campaign.
What formula is used to determine these payments?
Jonathan Noble of Motorsports claims that each team is required to pay $6,575 for each point scored in addition to a basic cost of $657,837. However, Red Bull, the constructors’ champion, is required to pay a greater price per point. Every point that Red Bull scores will cost them $7,893.
“Because we have to add points in order to produce the bill, it’s a luxury problem. Thankfully, it stays within the allocated budget. Although it is a sizable check to the FIA,” team Principal Christian Horner acknowledged as much to motorsport.com.
The entrance cost for Red Bull is greater than the total payments for second and third place, and it must be paid by December 10. Mercedes, the runner-up, will pay $3.4 million, and Ferrari, the third place finisher, $3.3 million.
Both the price of Red Bull’s victory and their supremacy in Formula One 2023 will be written down in the category’s history.
