Jordi Murphy, Irish Iconic Player to Retire At End of Current Season
Jordi Murphy, a forward for Ireland, has declared his retirement from rugby after this season. Murphy played over 100 games for Leinster before switching to Ulster in 2018. He was headed 30 times by his nation.
At the 2019 World Cup, he made his final international appearance. He was a member of the Irish squad that defeated New Zealand in Chicago seven years earlier.
The decision was made public by 31-year-old Murphy, who posted it on his social media pages.
He said that he believes the moment is right, and he and his family are eager to begin the next phase of their life. At the moment, thankfulness is all-pervasive for a profession he had never even imagined.
“To play for my boyhood club Leinster and my current club Ulster are experiences I will always cherish. To have represented my country will always be one of the highlights of my life.”
