Canelo Alvarez Will Fight Another Mexican, Risking All, On May 4

What Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will face next in the bout he intends to enter in September is unknown.

The Mexican boxer wants to face Dmitry Bivol again because he lost to him at 175 pounds last year. However, the two fighters’ teams have not been able to agree, and that possibility is fading away every day.

Canelo’s tempting offer to take against Benavidez

David Benavidez‘s organization appears committed to doing everything possible to get a crack at Canelo.

Chris Mannix of SI posted on his Twitter page,

“Representatives for David Benavidez are prepared to offer Canelo Alvarez a deal that includes close to 50 million [dollars] in guaranteed money, sources familiar with the offer told Sports Illustrated.”

“The actual purse would be in the neighborhood of $40 million, per source.”

“Splits on gate revenue and PPV upside would push the total package to close to $50 million.”

Sampson Lewkowicz, also the “Red Flag” movie’s promoter, acknowledged a few days ago on his social media accounts that he offered Eddy Reynoso the tantalizing pitch. However, they had yet to hear back.

And it appears that Benavidez’s management already has a choice if Canelo declines the offer—it’s none other than David Morrell.

Conor McGregor vs. Canelo Alvarez: Will it Happen?

Even though many people have regarded the likelihood of a confrontation between “The Notorious” and the Mexican as a joke, it appears that promoter Eddie Hearn does not.

In addition to speaking with Eddy Reynoso, the Englishman reportedly seeks to push for the match. He may even write a letter to UFC president Dana White, according to Solo Boxeo.

Hearn maintains his position, citing the 4.5 million dollars in PPV sales from the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight 2017.

“I saw [John] Ryder, I’m a southpaw, Ryder was a southpaw, Billy Joe [Saunders] was a southpaw, I’ve seen methods, I’ve seen things I’d do.” “I know he’s waining; I’d fight Canelo no f****g problem. Out straight. No problem.”
