In preparing for Game 4 of the NBA Finals, Strachan won accolades for her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. The enthusiasm of a fervent supporter has been expressed in the words:

“This beautiful black woman NAILED it. The NA. Lady Laurana Strachan. And let’s hope that the Nuggy’s jinxed themselves tonight by slapping hands before the anthem was over.”

She was performing the national anthem before a Miami Heat game, which was nothing new for Strachan. She also sang the Star-Spangled Banner before Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Heat and Boston Celtics in 2022. Her performance last year wowed the crowd as well.

When Strachan admitted that a municipal commissioner had not paid her for a performance at an occasion, the revelation made news in 2018. She discussed her love of singing with WSVN Miami in the following way:

“I’ve been singing since I was five years old, a very long time. It’s something I enjoy doing. It’s my life. It’s definitely who I am.”

What justifies the playing of the national anthem before the NBA Finals?

Before Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals, Kahara Hodges sings the national anthem. Before athletic events in the United States, singing the national anthem has become a longtime custom. But why is this?

The Star-Spangled Banner is used to set the stage for the next event, according to NBC Miami. It serves to pay tribute to the nation and those who have contributed to it.

The World Series between the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs began the anthem’s relationship with sporting events. Since then, it has evolved into a unique custom. The Star-Spangled Banner was formally designated the United States’ national anthem in 1931.

The Star-Spangled Banner has a particular position in American culture as the country’s anthem, even if other songs like “America the Beautiful,” “Hail, Columbia,” and “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee” are also used to honor the nation.
