Aston Martin & Alonso Receive Distressing Message From Russell
To finish behind Red Bull this season is a very tight race. Aston Martin had an impressive debut. Fernando Alonso got off to an amazing start (six podium finishes), and the Silverstone-based team took advantage of this to be the first of the mortals.
Given their superiority, Red Bull is expected to easily win both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships. Additionally, with victories in each of the first 12 Grand Prix races of the 2023 season, it’s a matter of concern for everyone to see whether they can sweep the board.
The second-best team’s identity is still up in the air. Ferrari took second place in that race last year. Charles Leclerc finished second in the drivers’ standings thanks to the Maranello-based squad. Checo Perez was narrowly defeated by the Monegasques.
To finish behind Red Bull this season is a very tight race. Aston Martin had an impressive debut. Fernando Alonso got off to an amazing start (six podium finishes), and the Silverstone-based team took advantage of this to be the first of the mortals. The team of Mike Krack, however, went through a period of a certain lull following Canada. They lost steam in July, while Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren each saw an increase in performance.
Aston Martin is still occupying the podium.
To make matters worse, Aston Martin has already dropped to third and is already sensing Ferrari’s breath. The green vehicles score 196. Red Bull (503) is in front of them, while Mercedes (247) has dropped a touch. McLaren is sixth with 103 points, while the Scuderia leads with 191.
Hamilton spies on Alonso.
Furthermore, Lewis Hamilton is only one point behind Alonso (the Spaniard is on 149, while the Briton is on 148). In other words, given how tough the competition is, the Silverstone-based squad had the best focus after the break.
Mercedes failed to get the W14 right, yet they are a team with a well-known propensity for rapid improvement. They are concentrated on the Constructors’ Championship since they are aware that they have little prospect of winning the two crowns.
Of course, if they go on to win a race, that’s merely a drop in the bucket. George Russell triumphed in Interlagos in 2022. But Hamilton had no value. We’ll watch to see whether they can end Red Bull’s perfect record.
Russell stated following the spa event. A caution that Aston Martin and Alonso should heed. Mercedes is a fantastic squad, so overtaking them for the second position appears to be a challenging but thrilling task.
“If you’re not fighting to win the Drivers’ Championship, you want to be as high as possible in the Constructors’ Championship, and so far we’re doing that because we’re second. I’m sure we’re going to be strong in the second half of the season. And we have some small things that we will incorporate after the summer break. I’m confident we can secure second place and also get closer to Red Bull.”
