Day 2 foursomes are split between the United States and Europe, with the Americans leading Solheim.
After the United States blanked Europe in foursomes on Day 1, the two sides split the Saturday morning session, 2-2.
The United States will lead the Solheim Cup afternoon fourballs 7-5. The Day 2 alternate-shot format at Finca Cortesin in Casares, Spain, went as follows:
Emily Kristine Pedersen/Carlota Ciganda (EUR) defeated Lilia Vu/Jennifer Kupcho (US) 2 and 1.
Unlike the other six teams on Saturday, neither of these teams competed in the foursomes on Friday. Europe won Nos. 5 and 6 to take a two-point lead, but the US responded by winning Nos. 7 and 8.
Pedersen and Ciganda created a 2-up lead after 14 holes, due in part to a three-putt from the United States at the 13th, but Vu stuffed her approach shot at the par-4 15th to cut the deficit in half.
A bogey at the 16th hole, however, cost the Americans a hole, and Pedersen and Ciganda sealed the match with a par at the 17th.
Match 10: Lexi Thompson/Megan Khang (US) win over Anna Nordqvist/Leona Maguire (EUR), 1 up.
Europe led by two after seven holes and were set to increase their lead until Thompson and Khang combined for an unbelievable par/hole saving at the eighth.
That sparked a winning streak for the Americans, who won three consecutive holes, Nos. 9-11, to take a one-hole lead.
Europe clawed back to tie it at the 15th, but a par at the 17th secured the US at least a half-point in the match. By matching the 18th, they gained a full point.
Nelly Korda/Allisen Corpuz (USA) defeated Georgia Hall/Celine Boutier (EUR) 5 and 3.
Korda and Corpuz prevailed on the final hole of their first foursomes match. This one did not make it to the 16th. Korda and Corpuz defeated their fellow major champions, causing Hall and Boutier to lose for the second time this week (after going 3-0-1 in the previous two editions).
Korda and Corpuz led by two after two holes and never looked back, recording five birdies to the Euros’ two.
Match 12: Maja Stark/Linn Grant (EUR) win over Danielle Kang/Andrea Lee (US), 1 up.
This match, the final to be completed Saturday AM, was never separated by more than one hole, and Europe never trailed.
Kang and Lee made numerous long putts to keep this one close, starting with Kang’s birdie on the 12th hole.
Lee won the 14th hole with a long birdie putt and the 16th hole with another.
But Stark returned the favor, winning the 17th and taking a one-point lead into the final.
Grant needed a 10-footer to tie the hole and win the match on the par-5 18th, with the Americans in close for birdie. She did, giving her team a boost going into the afternoon session.
