Commanders Want Anthony Weaver To Be Interviewed
The Commanders are still adding names to their list of potential head coaches
Numerous reports state that the Commanders have asked to speak with Anthony Weaver, the defensive line coach and assistant head coach of the Ravens. Ron Rivera‘s replacement might include defensive coordinators Aaron Glenn of the Lions, Ben Johnson of the Lions, and Raheem Morris of the Rams.
Previously employed by the Texans, Browns, Bills, and Jets, Weaver began his career with the Ravens in 2021. Throughout his seven-year NFL career as a defensive lineman, Weaver also played for the Texans and Ravens.
The Commanders may have a virtual interview with Weaver this week, but no in-person interviews with coaches who are presently employed by other teams may take place until after the divisional round of the playoffs.
Additionally, a new head of football operations is being sought by the commanders. Chiefs’ associate general manager Mike Borgonzi and 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters have been contacted for interviews, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero claims that Alec Halaby, the assistant general manager for the Eagles, is also on the list.
