Draymond Green, First Player In NBA History To Record “Double-Double”
The Warriors still benefit greatly from on-court influence of Draymond Green even though he isn’t the same scorer he once was.
According to StatMuse, in Friday night’s 114-109 defeat of the New Orleans Pelicans at Chase Center, both of those claims were validated by Green, who made NBA history by becoming the first player to earn a double-double without ever taking a shot.
Despite scoring 0 points, Green concluded the game on Friday with 12 rebounds, 11 assists, one steal, and one block. Green scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from outside the 3-point arc in just two games following his unusual double-double against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Green made an impact on the game in different ways even though he wasn’t shooting the lights out or even trying to shoot against the Pelicans.
Green’s effort was praised by Warriors coach Steve Kerr following the game, and he identified it as a major factor in Golden State’s ability to stay in the contest.
“It matters not if Draymond fires or not, the rest is all done by him. This evening, he was amazing. He was really competitive, and his defense was excellent. The competitive attitude and intensity displayed by our boys during the second half of the match was truly remarkable to witness.”
“These men are experienced players who have been winning titles and playing well into June for twelve or fifteen years. We are fighting for a play-in, and these guys are Hall of Famers. You can see how hard they worked to battle back and give us a shot.”
Steve kerr stated to the press.
The Warriors’ lifeblood, Green, is indispensable when he’s on the court, even with all of the ups and downs he’s experienced in the 2023–24 NBA season. Friday made it evident, and since the club is guaranteed a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament, they will need to put up the same level of effort.
Draymond Green and the Warriors are currently concentrated on their Sunday regular-season matchup with the Utah Jazz and might likely advance to the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.
