White Sox Traded Robbie Grossman To The Rangers
In an earlier deal, the Chicago White Sox sent outfielder Robbie Grossman to the Texas Rangers ahead of their game against Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Returning to Arlington, Grossman will bat.238 with 10 home runs and help the World Series champs win back-to-back championships.
Grossman has four RBIs and slashed in 71 at-bats with the White Sox this season. South Side: 211/.329/.268.
Minor league pitcher Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa was acquired by the White Sox from the Rangers as compensation. At Double-A Frisco, he has made 12 appearances this season and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts.
Double-A Birmingham will receive his reports, the team announced.
Zach Remillard, an infielder, was selected from Triple-A Charlotte to take Grossman’s place on the 40-man roster. Remillard was outrighted to Charlotte earlier this year by the Sox, who designated him for assignment. He is hitting.114/.192/.157 with the Knights and has four RBIs in 70 at-bats.
At 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday, the Sox will conclude their series against the Rays.
