Serena Williams Will Serve As 2024 ESPYS Host
The day before the ESPYS Awards, ESPN+ will debut a documentary series about the legendary tennis player.
This time, Serena Williams, the legend of women’s tennis, will take center stage as the host of the esteemed ESPYS Awards.
Williams’ return to the sports spotlight in a new capacity will be marked by her leadership of the 2024 ESPYS, as ESPN recently disclosed.
Sports lovers, who are looking forward to the star-studded celebration honoring the top players and highlights of the previous year, are pleasantly surprised by the announcement.
An exciting and memorable evening is promised by the ESPYS, which are set to take place on July 11 at Hollywood’s renowned Dolby Theatre.
The retired legend Williams, who holds an unmatched record of 23 major tournament championships, acknowledged her excitement about the occasion by saying,
“I’m thrilled to be hosting The ESPYs. I’ve wanted to do this for as long as I can remember, so it’s a dream come true for me.”
Serena will host the ESPYs alone, becoming just the second woman to do it overall.
In 2018, Danica Patrick of NASCAR hosted the awards show as the first female host. In 2020, Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe co-hosted the event alongside NFL player Russell Wilson.
ESPN+ will debut a docuseries featuring Serena Williams.
Williams is the epitome of athletic brilliance and female empowerment. Thanks to her incredible accomplishments and unquestionable influence off the court.
Not only has she won countless matches over her remarkable career, but she has also stood up for causes like racial justice and gender equality.
ESPN Vice President of Production Kate Jackson said, praising Williams as a suitable candidate for host.
“It is an ideal fit to have probably the greatest female athlete ever to host The ESPYS.”
Because they provide a forum for recognizing exceptional athletes and noteworthy accomplishments, the ESPY Awards are particularly dear to sports enthusiasts.
With Williams hosting, an already highly anticipated event gains even more excitement and expectation.
“In the Arena: Serena Williams,” an eight-episode ESPN+ original series that will provide fans an up-close and personal look at Williams’ famous career, will be included in addition to her summertime hosting duties.
Anticipation is growing for an evening that promises to honor Serena Williams‘ lasting legacy and the greatest of sports as the ESPYS countdown gets underway.
