Alpine F1 Received Investment From Wrexham Owners Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, owners of Wrexham, have teamed up with investors to acquire a sizeable 24 percent equity position in the Alpine F1 team.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, owners of Wrexham, have teamed up with investors to acquire a sizeable 24 percent equity position in the Alpine F1 team.

The two Hollywood celebrities, together with Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, were revealed to be involved in the deal by Renault, the parent company of Alpine, in an official statement released Monday.

Alpine Racing’s valuation soars to an astounding 706 million pounds, or almost 900 million dollars, after striking a transaction worth 200 million euros.

After completing their takeover of Wrexham in 2021, Reynolds and McElhenney helped the Welsh team return to the Football League after a 15-year exile. Their comeback was made possible by the club’s achievement in capturing the National League championship in April.

The well-known American investment company RedBird has a sizable portfolio of sports-related investments.

The Boston Red Sox baseball team and Liverpool, a powerhouse in the Premier League, are owned by the Fenway Sports Group, which also maintains investing interests in the company.

In August 2022, RedBird significantly increased the scope of its sports interests by acquiring Italian Series A club AC Milan in a deal worth a staggering 1.2 billion euros. Toulouse of France’s Ligue 1 is another team in which the company owns a controlling interest.

“This association is an important step to enhance our performance at all levels.”

Alpine chief executive Laurent Rossi
